ABOUT ORCHARD GUARD
We purchased Orchard Guard from the founder Ben Dover in April 2024. Here is Ben’s own story of how he created this amazing organic business to help the agriculture industry:
I owned a cherry orchard close to Yakima, WA for 31 years. It seemed like the number of birds that cause damage to the fruit increased every year It got to the point where as much as 20% of the crop went to the birds. This was quite frustrating to me and all the farmers raising fruit in the area.
That is when a friend who worked for the Washington Fish & Game Dept told me to build a couple of kestrel boxes for natural bird control. He said that when the American kestrel comes to the orchard other birds will leave. That is because this powerful falcon can kill birds in mid-air. This frightens other birds so much they change their flight patterns. With this information, I decided to put a couple of boxes up at just the right places in the orchard. The next spring I found a pair of kestrels nesting in one of the boxes. I could hardly believe how the other birds were no longer in the orchard. That is when I knew I was really on to something special and that is called NATURAL CONTROL.
Since then, I have sold kestrel and owl boxes on the internet and have shown them at farming conventions. In the 18+ years I have been did this I have over 5000 boxes out there and helped raise thousands of kestrels and barn owls for bird and rodent control. Don’t wait to order your boxes today.
Ben is still helping us with this business and we are gratefui to have a chance to help you in your business. Call us today and let’s get this organic pest control working for you.

FUN FACTS ABOUT THE KESTREL
- Females are about 10% larger than males.
- Prey items include: mice, voles, grasshoppers, bats, spiders, snakes, and small birds.
- The Kestrel is able to kill or injure birds in the air. This makes other birds fearful enough to change their flight patterns.
- Kestrels can see ultra violet light and may be able to find hidden mammals by seeing their urine trails.
- Can live up to 11 years in the wild.
- Can reach 60 mph while diving and 40 mph in level flight.
FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BARN OWL
- Barn owls adapt well to man-made structures and like to live in barns.
- One barn owl will consume up to 2000 rodents per year.
- The owl’s disk shaped face helps pick up the faintest leaf rustle or mouse peep from 100 feet away.
- Size: 4 to 20 inches tall with a wing span of 40 + inches
- One ear is positioned higher than the other as a part of a three-dimensional hearing system.
- The 40+ wingspan accommodates slow, silent flight.
